Thanksgiving time again…. Unless you’re spending it home alone, then that generally means lots of food – and much of it is high calorie and high fat. Then add Eggnog and your favorite alcohol beverage(s) and you have a recipe for diet disaster.
Remember that PORTION CONTROL is the key to weight management. It’s the Quality of the food that you desire, not the Quantity. Check out the ‘Portion Distortion’ page on one of my favorite websites to help you serve yourself tomorrow…
Remember that 3 ounces of meat does not mean 3 ounces of EACH meat that is available. You want to try your two or three favorites? No problem, do a 1 or 2 ounce portion of your favorite two or three menu items. Want to try desserts made by each of your favorite three aunts? No problem, take a small slice a pie and cake and split a cookie with your spouse – then go for a walk and smell what the neighbors are cooking for dinner.
In the morning while the turkey’s cooking, play tag-football with the kids, take the dog out for a walk…. The more activity you do, the more calories you burn. And the more calories you burn the more food you’ve earned to eat!!!
