weigh-in this morning

So I actually had a Saturday that I remembered to weigh-in... I'm at 135.5.  Right on track to be at 135 next week.  Thanks to my little buddy the bodybugg.
And kudos to me for going out on Duval last night and drinking NO alcohol.  Had diet soda and water last night.  I went to dinner last night totally feeling the vibe that I was on-track and where I wanted to be - I'm sure that helped my motivation for holding out on the adult beverages.  I ate well, though, don't get me wrong - grilled dolphinfish and french fries.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, FRENCH FRIES!  I ate a good lunch and made sure that I was within my caloric intake for the day and loved every single french fry that I ate (I finished most of them, was feeling kind of full near the end so left probably 10 on my plate).
Happy Goombay Weekend to all!!
(hey, I live in Key West - where there's always a reason for a party!)

personal update

Weigh-in today - and I weigh exactly the same as I did last week.  My internet was down most of the week.  I tracked my food but obviously underguessed my physical activity for the week.
Fortunately we have a new modem so shouldn't have that problem again.  Fantasy Fest is coming soon, and my goal is still 135.  That's 1.5 pounds in just under two weeks.  Doable?  You bet!  I just need to widen my deficit margin a bit (meaning more calories burned then eaten)!

Technology has made us all lazy.  Which, in turn, has helped to make us a less active. . . . this is an awesome example of what could happen when you make an activity a little more fun.  It's under 2 minutes and well worth your time:

Personal update

My internet has been down all week at home and work allows me very limited non-work related internet access. Since I haven't been as active this week as I'd like, I've been really good about my incoming calories.
Hopefully the folks will come out tomorrow and be able to fix it and we'll see how good my guesstimating has been.

great day today!

A great day today - fairly busy at work, which helps to make it go by a little quicker!  Made it by the gym on the way home, 30 minutes of pretty hard-core cross trainer and another 40 minutes on the treadmill.  Nice day of eating - so much so that I had room for a huge cookie this evening!
I'm on track to make another 1/2 pound this week!

Helping to support those with Breast Cancer

While it's important for women to stay informed about Breast Cancer, I want to also make sure that our friends and partners know where to go to get support.

Men against breast cancer

Men against breast cancer - founded in 1999, is the first national non-profit to provide national support services to educate and empower men to be effective care givers and helping men cope with the impact of a loved one's breast cancer diagnosis and treatment; as well as, target and mobilize men to be active participants in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease. Additionally, MABC offers various services such as the workshop "Partners in Survival" and the "For The Women We Love, A Breast Cancer Action Plan and Caregiver's Guide For Men." Also, learn about MABC's Annual Caregiver's Conference For Men.

Network of Strength

When your life is touched by breast cancer, you need support so you reach out to Breast Cancer Network of Strength. We're here for those who have a question about breast health, and for loved ones who aren't quite sure what to say to the patient. We're here for the patient who simply wants to speak with someone who has walked in her shoes.

There's something so comforting about talking to someone who's been there. While family and friends can be a wonderful support, speaking with other breast cancer survivors helps patients come to terms with their diagnosis and cope with the emotional concerns that may arise.

We hope you'll take advantage of the YourShoes 24/7 Breast Cancer Support Center, with interpreters in more than 150 languages on the hotline. When you dial —even in the middle of the night—your call is answered by a trained peer counselor who is a breast cancer survivor. Online support is provided and peer counselors respond to questions and concerns promptly.
