Holidays don't have to mean added pounds!

Just because it's the Holiday season doesn't mean that you have to add pounds. It's okay to help yourself to the goodness of the holidays, just do it in moderation. Don't fill up your plate. Take a little bit of everything that you'd like to try and then go back for more if you're still hungry. Most likely you won't be. Cut back on the food extras, the dressings or gravy or mayo. Make sure you have a little bit of every color on your plate, don't just eat the bland colors (meat and potatoes with gravy), be sure to add some oranges and greens.
A few other quick and easy tips:
Avoid mingling in the kitchen or near the buffet table. More often than not, you'll find that you munch just because the food is there. If you move away from the food then the urge won't be there to 'just grab one' (because you'll finding yourself 'grabbing one' about a dozen times).
Stand up during the parties - you'll burn about twice the calories as you will if you sit and chit-chat (my bodybugg tells me that I burn .9 calories seated and 1.8 calories standing).
Take the steps instead of the elevator.
Don't park up front, park toward the rear of the lot and walk the extra 15 spaces.
Have a load of presents to take in? Do it in two trips and double your calorie burn!
Don't let the holiday parties increase your post-holiday stress! You'll already be stressed when the January credit card bills come in, why add your weigh-ins to your stress!?
