taking you back to a familiar website (maybe)

For those of you that have been around a while, you’ve seen this a few times.  But it is such a very good website that I like to put it in the blog every so often to make sure that any new people see it:

http://www.mypyramid.gov/

It’s not your father’s Food Pyramid, it’s about two thousand times better.  This whole week will be bringing pages from this website to you to look at and learn from.

Best wishes for your own healthy lifestyle,

Sharron

personal bodybugg update

Happy Fall everyone!
Thought I’d update you on my personal bodybugg™ progress an
d goals.  My weigh-in this week was 146, which I expected because I’ve indulged in ice cream and cookies nearly every day… not to mention that it’s NFL season and we partake in goodies while we sit and watch football on Sundays.

(at least with our move to the Keys we aren’t participating in tailgating any longer, because that means added calories because of the many beers that I consume)

Going to start monitoring myself again, since it’s football season.  And since I’m unemployed and looking for another job, thought I’d drop a couple extra pounds – so shooting for 143.  (dropping the weight just in case I end out waiting tables this tourist season….hey, every advantage a girl can get, right?)

Since I’m wearing the bodybugg™, as long as I’m honest about my incoming calories it’s not a problem!!  My goal is cardio once a day, sometimes I’ll be able to get it in twice a day, which isn’t too hard if the evenings are rain-free then Scott and I walk after dinner.

Learn more about the bodybugg™ at our website – www.MoveMoreEatLess.org .  It truly is the next best thing to sliced bread, and THE best thing in the health/weight loss industry!!

A great article that Yahoo featured from Men’s Health – helping you realize which breakfast foods at our favorite fast food places should be avoided…. Their subtitle for the article is “Eat This, Not That”

The Art of Cheating

Yesterday’s article reminded me about another great Conversation Corner from Apex a couple of years back – it refers to Holiday Eating… but it applies in the middle of September just as much as it does during the heavy-eating holidays!

Fitness Ball Excercises

I do love most of the articles included in the Mayo Clinic weekly newsletter – here’s a great one about Fitness balls and exercises based off of these toy-looking things.

Excerising with Arthritis

A great Mayo Clinic article, found this on my weekly Mayo Clinic newsletter.

“Exercising with arthritis: Improve your joint pain and stiffness.  As you consider starting an arthritis exercise program, understand what’s within your limits and what level of exercise is likely to give you results.

Exercise is crucial for people with arthritis….” http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/arthritis/AR00009

obesity just 'in' your genes??

For those of you that think that being overweight is 'in my genes' - this one's for you:
 http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080908/hl_nm/obesity_gene_dc
Enjoy and thank you to Yahoo news!!!
(On an added note, I got stranded in Va Beach because of the weather on Saturday - and didn't want to fly in to Key West early in the week... so still at my Dad's for a few more days.  My updates will be regular again as soon as I get back to KW)
