update for NY Eve

Well it's New Year's Eve and Scott and I just finished moving his new dresser in to the house - what a chore.  Why is it that there is no such thing as a 15 minute task?  First of all it's got quite a bit of real wood on it, so it is HEAVY.  So we manage to get it in the house with a little grunting and the help of a bedspread on the tile floor to drag it through to the bedroom.  Great, the dressers too big to get in the door.... so off the hinges it comes.  After much ado, the new dresser is in and the door is back on the hinges.  What a great way to start the New Year, with a brand new dresser that has 4 more drawers then the old dresser.  A great opportunity for new organization!  What a great kickoff to a New Year - being organized!!
Now if he'd only let me go through his closet. . . .
Today was a great eating day for me - regular breakfast (Fruit Loops), PBJ and Pringle single pack for lunch, then an Oh Yeah bar for a snack.  Dinner was a turkey burger with feta cheese.  While we moved the dresser we made brownies, so I'm going to upload my Armband and input my food and see what I can afford with the brownies.  Slow day for me today because I was in the drive through all afternoon, so sat during most of the afternoon.
Have a Happy New Year's weekend.  Celebrate safely.  Keep those resolutions in the back of your mind all weekend long, because Monday is the day you become serious!

Weight gain increases your risk

A great article from Yahoo Health.  It's a helpful reminder that the weight we gain during the holiday season does more then just increase our waist line, it increases our risk of breast cancer.

time for me to work on me again!

Okay, just like the rest of America, I find myself in a position to drop a couple of pounds.  And there's no better way to do it then to say it outloud and commit yourself, so that's what I'm doing.
Today I weighed in at 140.5 pounds.  My goal is to lose 2.5 pounds to be 138.  I am toying with losing the three more to get back down to 135, but I'm not the least bit stressed in doing it.  We'll get down to 138 and then I'll worry about that last three.
I think that I'm going to work on 1/2 pound a week.
This morning was Donna's last day in town, she made pancakes.  Bisquick Heart Smart and Skim Milk pancakes with Lite syrup.  Lunch will be out, but then I'm getting serious through January.
Watch my progress - I'll try to update a little more regularly then I did last time!

time to think New Year's Resolutions

Well, the holidays are very nearly over - so it's time to consider your New Year's Resolutions.  2010 isn't just a new year but a new decade.  A new DECADE . . . wow, that's big.  So let's make our resolution a big one.
Me - I want to concentrate on making sure that I'm in the right job for me, for me and my family.  We lost quite a bit of our senior security when we opened that gym, having to sell stocks and 401Ks.  I enjoy my current job but want to make sure that I'm making the most of being able to save and squirrel-up for our future, so I'm keeping my eyes open.  I also think that I'm going to do a little more to build my Mary Kay business.  I enjoy doing it and my clients love my no-party business.
How about you?  What's your resolution for the new decade?  Weight loss?  Muscle gain?  Let us help you with your weight management goals.  Learn more about the bodybugg at our website www.MoveMoreEatLess.org.  You can always learn more directly from the company's website at www.myapex.com - and we honor their pricing.  Our shipping is always only $5 and we promise you the best Fit Pro advice and support that you can get!
Scott and I have been wearing the bodybugg and FitPros for them for years now.  We've had all types of clients with all types of goals, we'd love to help you realize YOUR goals!

Gain Control of Emotional Eating

Another great article from my MayoClinic.com newsletter.  This time of year is known for over eating anyway.  Add to it regular holiday stress, work and family stresses, depression, jobless stress. . . . there are so many reasons to use food to help to comfort us.
Emotional eating sabotages your weight goals.  Here's a great article to help you stay focused during the next few weeks of temptation.

Fitness tips for menopause - why physical activity matters

While I'm not quite at the menopause stage, I thought it appropriate to post this on my 45th birthday!
Thanks to the MayoClinic.com newsletter - a great article about why physical activity is important for women facing menopause:

Fitness Tips for Menopause

While the article in whole is a great read, I felt like the part about the benefits are especially important:

Whether you've exercised faithfully for years or you haven't been physically active, physical activity during and after menopause offers many benefits. For example, regular physical activity can:

Prevent weight gain. Women tend to lose muscle mass and gain abdominal fat during and after menopause. Even slight increases in physical activity can help prevent weight gain.

Reduce the risk of breast cancer. Physical activity during and after menopause that results in weight loss may offer protection from breast cancer.

Strengthen your bones. Physical activity can slow bone loss after menopause, which lowers the risk of fractures and osteoporosis.

Reduce the risk of other diseases. During and after menopause, the risk of various chronic conditions — including cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes — increases. Regular physical activity can counter these risks.

Boost your mood. Physical activity during and after menopause can improve your psychological health.

watch those calories in your holiday drinks

Remember that it's very easy to pack on the calories during the month of December.  It's not only about the food, either, the beverages you find readily available may be high in calorie count, as well.  Check out these websites so that you can be prepared and make wise choices when it comes to wetting your kisser!

Stress and the Holidays

Another great article from the MayoClinic.com's newsletter.  A great reminder to us that we all have to deal with stress during the holidays and tips for helping you cope.  I think that the two most important things to remember is to learn how to say no and trying to be realistic.  Sometimes we put way too much pressure on ourselves to make these times 'perfect'.  Perfect is near-to-impossible and only important to us.  Not the point of the holiday season at all.
It's not a long article and certainly worth a read for each of us - maybe twice during the holiday season!
