Eating healthy on a budget

I’ve been reminding my clients that they can cut calories if they cut the money they spend on food – most especially by eating at home and packing lunch to eat at work instead of eating out.  WebMD.com has a great article about just that – CHEAP AND HEALTHY:  15 NUTRITIOUS FOODS FOR ABOUT $2

“A grocery list to help you cut food prices while you boost nutrition.  How do you eat a nutritious diet while keeping your grocery budge low?  The good news is that cheap food isn’t necessarily unhealthy food.  You can cut food costs by eating more meals at home, and by making sure they feature some of the healthiest foods from your supermarket – foods like whole grains, vegetables, and beans.  Luckily, many of these foods cost less then $2 per package….”

Have a hard time finding something to eat at home???  It helps to plan the week’s food out in advance – I know it stinks and it’s hard to do, but just think about the money AND calories you’ll save if you do!
