low calorie vs nutrition??

Another great Q & A from Apex.

Q – Can losing weight really be only about consuming fewer calories than you are burning?  Isn’t there a role that nutrition plays in weight loss??

A – Proper nutrition during weight loss ensures that the calories you’re allowed in order to lose weight will be comprised of foods that make you feel your best, and satiate and nourish the body adequately.  Often you cannot accomplish this with the amount of calories that allow for continuous body-fat reduction.  Therefore, we use supplements to supply important nutrients without adding calories.  This may keep you from losing muscle during weight loss and allow you to feel better both can lead you to burning more calorie and thus seeding weight loss.

As you see, it is still calories.  But proper nutrition can indirectly result in you moving more (burning more calories) and consuming less (eating fewer calories) which can accelerate your progress toward your goal.

% Body Fat necessary to calculate calories burned??

Q – Are the calculations of calories burned more accurate if % body fat is entered as opposed to just weight and height??

A – Once you begin wearing our Armband and the sensors detect your actual data, the bodybugg™ then begins calculating your true calorie burn regardless of your body fat.

my weekly weigh-in

Happy last day of the Tour de France!

As they do the Tour winds down in the city of Paris, I realized that I didn’t update my weight this week.  I’m sure there’s some sort of Freudian reason behind that – my weight this week was 145.5…. nothing gained and nothing lost.

Didn’t I state my goal a while back was to drop about ½ pound per week?  Well, I’m just like everyone else and find myself in a position (self induced, of course) where I’m not losing weight.  I have become addicted to the cookies from the Sugarloaf Food Company.

No other reason – simply put I’m eating probably 2 of them a day (great big fat honking cookies, I might add).  I’m watching my numbers carefully, though, so each week I’m comfortable that I’m not going to GAIN any weight, I’m just not losing any.

Truth be told (and I’ll be the first to point out that this is nothing but another excuse), I’m pretty darned comfortable with my weigh-in of 145.5.  I’m happy with myself in the mirror as I’m getting dressed in the morning, so I’m in a mentally ‘comfortable’ position about the weight.  I will admit that when I’m in my bikini I think that another couple of pounds would make it perfect, but I’m obviously not very stressed about it.

Adding a bit of fiber to my diet this week and going to promise myself that THIS week I’ll lose that ½ and get down to 145.  (one thing I realized this week is that I’m not getting enough fiber in my diet, so may be retaining a bit more then I could be)

We’re down to the last 12 miles of the Tour (19km)….  The past couple years of the Tour have been so excited to watch, so many new people and new names.  Thanks to Lance Armstrong for helping so many people learn to understand and appreciate this sport.

Have a great week!!!

(a quick FYI – in case you haven’t looked recently, the bodybugg™ is a little less expensive now…. The company’s lowered their price to us so we lowered our price to you – www.movemoreeatless.org look it up)

bodybuggs calorie burn number vs that of a heart rate monitor??

Another great Q & A from Apex:

Q – “ I walked for 40 minutes at about 3.5 to 5 include, 3.6 mph, the bodybugg™ has me burning 240 calories and my heart rate monitor has me burning 345 calories.  My average heart rate was 130 (69%).

Reader’s Digest version of the answer – The heart rate monitor is using only one piece of information, but the bodybugg™ uses multiple pieces….

weigh-in

Happy weekend!

Well, Scott’s finally down here and living with me.  I’m totally content with where I am and have changed my program to lose ½ a week – I’m shooting for 140.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally contended with what I see when I get out of the shower in the morning (even when I have my glasses on!).

I weighed in at 145.5 this morning – I’m quite comfortable where I am and how I look AND I am enjoying my cookies and/or brownies every day.  Plus I just changed my job to a desk job (instead of Retail, which is what I’ve been doing for the past 10 weeks or so).  I’m burning a WHOLE LOT less calories with my new job then I was with my old job.  And my new job brings on pressures of eating out, so I need to start a few new habits with this new job.

(bring lunch to work, make it a point to get up and walk around the Marina at least once a day)

Weather’s great down here in the Keys.  Hope things are great where you are!
